As the planet continues to decline, as human and ecological disasters continue to occur all over the world, men and women are emerging here and there, each in their own way, to reverse the trend. Many beautiful people are each striving, each according to their possibilities, their talents, to make their fellow human beings understand that it is high time to do something different, that it is not only possible and that it is not a step backwards but a real positive evolution.

Hugo Clément, a talented young journalist and animal rights activist, discovered by Grégoire during the oil spill in Mauritius, created a programme called « Sur le front ». By this means, he awakens consciences and stands on all fronts to enlighten us on ecological issues.

Naomi Klein, whom we had the chance to meet at the « 104 », a high place of reflection on the future, during the COP 21 and with whom we took part in a forbidden action during the same event, is releasing a new book: « Plan B for the Planet ».

As soon as he arrived in Mauritius, Grégoire committed himself alongside the Mauritians so that this paradisiacal island would not become the dumping ground of our civilization : a stranded bulk carrier which spills for days during its infamous oil slick on this beautiful lagoon, destroying in the process a good part of the biodiversity, innumerable plastics thrown on the beaches destroying little by little the mangrove swamps?

With his heart and conscience, with his words and photos, he helps us become aware of the drama that is being played out thousands of miles away. He also and above all, shows us the beautiful momentum of solidarity that has been built up and, allows us to become aware that citizen actions can still change the world. The latest information is worrying; there are no less than 25 dolphins stranded on the beaches. It invites us to ask ourselves the question « What will tomorrow be like? « as the title of this song from the 80’s by Yves Simon. He proposes us to take new paths together. (cf the articles on Mauritius)

A few thousand kilometres away, it is the turn of Arjun, an Indian friend, to tell us about the young people of Mothakkara who, after having abandoned rice growing for a while, are coming back as a solidarity group organised to bring about a new form of food self-sufficiency.

For our part, like many Parisians, we regularly try to participate in civil disobedience actions to denounce the hold of neo-liberalism on our planet. (Cf article Another world is possible)

Here and there, other experiences germinate, the artist Bansky offers a new boat called « the Louise Michel » to Pia Klemp so that she can continue to help the refugees in the Mediterranean.

HK and Kalune enchant us with poetry to their music. What happiness when at the heart of disobedience actions, they put their gift at the service of the planet.

Cédric Herrou mixes the reception of refugees and organic farming in the South of France by creating a new Emmaus community.

Jean-Philippe Merkel and his companion help those who frequent the « Grands Voisins » to discover the virtues of ancient cereals and the fermentation that takes its time. (Cf article Le marchand de bonheur)

And then here in Marta there are two fairies who are striving to give a new direction to the world of tomorrow. Their names are Giulia and Renata respectively. Jean-Yves has already introduced you to Umberto the magician.

What a joy to have discovered this little corner of paradise one day during a tandem ride. As you know, fairies are ageless. So in the fairy garden in Marta, nothing prevents the fairies from advancing in their daily revolution for a « better life », no matter their age.

From the road along Lake Bolsena, a pastel-coloured door invites you to enter the garden.

You can see orange sunflowers and olive trees with many different shades of green.

On your left, a small flower bed invites you to penetrate further.

The flora here has reclaimed some of the old agricultural tools that took our imaginations away in the last century. The one where we took the time to work at the rhythm of Mother Nature.

A little further on, a lizard is confidently gilded in the sun. It knows that fairies are friends with animals.

In this little corner, it smells like a freshly picked tomato. Basil, barely touched, also offers you a whole range of smells that are good to breathe.

In the little garden fairy hut, it is possible to order fresh fruit and vegetables picked by Pam, a fairy companion who is also a gardener.

Your vegetables will be placed under the patio in the morning by one of the two fairies. The basket will be prepared with fairy hands, i.e. with care and delicacy.

Behind the hut, an old marble sink plays with light and shadow.

A quackgrass brush is there to scrape the vegetables from their overflow of soil. It smells good, simple gestures that give all their fullness to the passing of time.

On the right, a few chairs placed in the shade of the fig tree for visitors to take their time for the chat. We are in Italy and these times of exchange still punctuate daily life. It is here that information on the future of the lake is exchanged. It is here that consumers and travellers passing through are made aware.

I challenge anyone who has passed by here to confess if they don’t think of Giulia when they next see a jar of the all too famous brand of spread.

Indeed, our two fairies have long since given up their long princess dresses with crinolines. They are not afraid to crouch down to take care of the plants. Because here we take care of the smallest detail to exorcise ourselves from the globalised world. They don’t hesitate to put on their trousers to go and demonstrate when it’s a question of defending the Lake, so precious, so full of life. The latest fight to date is that of the hazelnut. Not long ago, the too big brand of spread wanted to extend its empire and undertook to buy back land previously cultivated in organic farming, to make a green-washing operation.

In doing so, it has undermined a whole lot of the work of local farmers in favour of biodiversity. The monoculture of hazelnuts is not suitable for this region. This is why the evil geniuses of the industry have to constantly add fertilisers, pesticides, consume a lot of water and then dump it into the lake, thus disturbing the aquatic life.

It was without relying on the power of our fairy friends and their friends. It is time to fight against the evil geniuses to save the lake. A facebook page was even created » SOS lago « .

Let’s return to the fairy garden that blossoms with the seasons and the slow revolution that is slowly taking place there. I am talking about the revolution of vegetables and cereals. This is where all the talent of our fairies Giulia and Renata is expressed. An ancestral knowledge passed down from generation to generation, sometimes forgotten but always found again for the good health of the planet and its inhabitants.

For the most curious, who will dare to take a look through the trellis of the mosquito net, under the small shelter of the window of the fairy hut, they will discover many delicacies but also and above all the famous « Oropasta ».

It is out of sight, from the bottom of the hut, that this crazy and revolutionary project has germinated, which consists in reintroducing the cultivation of an ancestral variety of wheat, listed at the university, and from there, making the pasta of the estate.

Another magic wand trick against the evil geniuses of industry. Our fairies are convinced that it is food that will change the world.

And this is how, on a beautiful morning, while admiring for the umpteenth time the view of the lake and Capodimonte, travellers are treated to a little lesson on the quality of wheat.

The wheat currently consumed in most countries has been undergoing constant transformation under the leadership of evil industrial geniuses. The wind even carries the rumour that for the last 15,000 years it is probably the only food to have undergone so many changes.

And so, over time, because of these bad geniuses, some wheat proteins have even become toxic. A new challenge for our fairies. Supported in this endeavour by Siddharta, they have decided to cast a spell on these toxic proteins.

In just a few years, the ancestral wheat is sown, grown and harvested.

A new brand of pasta was born and the fairies bent over their cradle. They are beautiful and easily digestible. This wheat measures up to 180 cm as opposed to 30 to 40 cm for modern wheat, which does not provide enough cover to prevent weeds and requires the use of pesticides.

This strong wheat which produces only 10 quintals per hectare against 60 quintals for insipid modern wheat, indigestible even toxic for many of us.

The whole question is there and it is to this revolution that Renata, Giulia, Umberto, Pam and Siddharta are gently leading us: « Let your food be your medicine » as Hippocrates advocated, because in the very heart of Italy, the land of the famous pasta, more and more people can no longer eat it and are forced to turn to rice.

Our fairies and garden wizards are convinced that this is how the world will change because, as Jane Goodall says, « we are what we eat ».

So hats off, fairies and magicians of the future, for your revolution which is taking its time and inexorably changing the face of the world. Because as the proverb says, « he who goes piano, goes sano ».
