Well aligned on the surrounding wall, they proudly scan the comings and goings of the fishermen on the port below.

In front of the Skala of the port, they pose as guarantors of the animation of the sector.

The plumage of an immaculate white, the eye girdled with a line of red kohl, they seem to be made up for all circumstances.

Everywhere on the port, as well as on the roofs of the Medina, they lull with their cries the daily life of the inhabitants of the city.

Enjoying what they find from above on the terraces…

… it is on the rooftops that they rub shoulders with their cat friends.

Dry bread for the cat, a little water for the seagull, on the roofs of Essaouira, it’s every man for himself.

Sometimes from the back….

…sometimes from the front, they impose themselves in every nook and cranny of the Medina.

However, it is said here that cats are kings in the Medina.

At their ease on the rooftops, they seem to play on the arrogance of these ladies, the seagulls.

On the rooftops of Essaouira, it’s every man for himself.

The haughty harbour, the gaze in the distance, you can only see them on the top of the roofs.

Sometimes disappointed by what they find on the roof, they don’t hesitate, some evenings, to throw everything down.

However, the cats are there watching and sometimes hiding in every nook and cranny…

… also keeping an eye on these cheerful and charming ladies.

They are always ready to pounce for a good reminder…

… that in the Medina, it is the cats who are the kings …

…forgetting for a moment that they will never be able to follow these beautiful ladies when they fly over the port of Essaouira.
